Types of Betta Fish (Which is the Perfect One for You?)

The betta fish, commonly known as the Siamese betta fishonline, is a wonderfully colored species that is appreciated and loved worldwide. There are roughly 100 different types of betta fish, each with subtle to substantial variances in its behavior, color, fin, patterns, and so on.

Betta Fish Characteristics

To cover as many betta fish species as possible, we have divided this article into three sections:

Tail Varieties

The tail is the most significant distinguishing feature of different betta fish varieties.

Fish fans like you have many options, ranging from long wavy fins to colorful short fins.

SpecsLess aggressive behavior

The Veil tail is, without a doubt, one of the most popular betta species. Their most distinguishing characteristic is their long tail, which swoops and curls as it trailed behind their body. This betta can be found in various patterns; marble and koi patterns are relatively uncommon. Male Veil tails have a more enormous tail than females, which makes them appear more stunning. Females, on the other hand, frequently have richer colors to offset the disadvantage of the short seat. Remember that Veil tails are not good swimmers and should be kept in a tank with calm water currents.

A little aggressive in behavior

Crown tail bettas were first bred in West Jakarta, Indonesia, in 1997 and have since spread worldwide. As the name implies, this betta has a magnificent tail terminating with innumerable small spikes that can make any aquarium stunning. Crown bettas' ray extensions can be double, triple, quadruple, or crossover. The most common variants of these betta fishes are grizzly and bi-color designs.

Crown tail betta fishes, unlike Veil tail bettas, are strong swimmers who can endure slow currents. Similarly, the variety is relatively aggressive depending on the fish's gender and origin. They generally flourish in pristine water conditions. Crown tails are prone to injuries and infections, so you must exercise extreme caution.

Type of Double Tail Double Tailed

The name Double tail betta refers to the fish's double caudal fin. DT betta, on the other hand, is more prevalent among fish fans. Their caudal fins are not split but have two distinct peduncles, distinguishing them from other species. Unlike Delta bettas, the tails of this betta may or may not be proportionately distributed.

Extremely aggressive behaviour

Plakat bettas resembled the wild betta Splendens and were originally bred for fighting in South Asia. They have shorter fins but huge and extremely robust bodies due to their highly aggressive character. Traditionally, these Palkat bettas had either pointed or rounded tails. However, with greater selective breeding experimentation, you can find crowns or half-moon tails from the fish dealer.

It should be noted that these bettas have a habit of jumping out of their tanks on a frequent basis. Choosing a tank with a tight lid is therefore an absolute must. Furthermore, if you want to keep your aggressive Plakat happy, consider moving them to a larger tank where they can wander about and be active. These species are commonly seen in a variety of colour variations, including bi-color, piebald, butterfly, and soil patterns. They appear extremely colourful because their dorsal fins have more rays than an ordinary betta.
